History of the Fiesta

La Fiesta de San Gabriel celebrates the anniversary of the founding of the Mission San Gabriel Archangel. The fiesta has been held for many years on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of Labor Day Weekend and marks the September 8, 1771 date when the mission was established. Mission San Gabriel is the fourth of the original 21 missions in California. The mission, museum, and grounds are designated as State of California Historical Landmark 158.

How to Get There

La Fiesta de San Gabriel is celebrated on the mission grounds at 428 S. Mission Drive in the city of San Gabriel. The mission is located about 1 1/2 miles north of the San Bernardino Freeway (I-10). Take the Del Mar Avenue exit, travel north almost 1 1/2 miles to Mission Road, turn left onto Mission Road and travel west 1/2 mile to mission’s parking lot. Parking also is available on nearby streets and parking lots indicated for Fiesta.
